Model EB235 has a chrome plated brass body, primarily intended for backflow protection from flexible hoses.  These valves are usually fitted between the servicing valve (or tap) and the hose to prevent distasteful water contaminating the drinking (wholesome) water supply.  (Model ED235 is a Double Check Valve version for Fluid Category 3, such as domestic bath / shower hoses.  This is where the outlet can become submerged)

Model EB402
Model EB402 has cast iron body - epoxy coated for protection of drinking water systems.  The most common application is fire protection systems without additives.  The low headloss characteristics are ideal for non return valve applications such as on the inlet or outlet from a pump
