AFL - Automatic Flow Limiting Valve
Every
water outlet or appliance shall have a combined Isolating and Automatic Flow
Limiting Valve to automatically limit the flow of hot and cold water as
manufactured and distributed by Arrow Valves Ltd - Tel 01442 823123 www.arrowvalves.co.uk. A flow limiting cartridge1
shall be installed through the side port - after fitting and flushing pipes in
accordance with the BS6700 Table 3. The
Cartridge flow rate shall be as indicated in the table below and a colour coded
identity disc fitted after installation of the Cartridge. The valves shall be nickel-plated and fitted
with a black aluminium lever.

Autofill – Pressurisation Unit
The
primary sealed heating system shall be filled and pressurised by an Autofill
pressurisation unit as manufactured and commissioned by Arrow Valves Ltd - Tel
01442 823123. Warning neon lamps shall
be provided on the unit, which indicate a low or high pressure fault condition. A solenoid valve shall control the filling
and be controlled by a differential pressure switch1. Installation shall comply with WRAS IGN 9-03-02 as available on
the manufacturer’s web site www.arrowvalves.co.uk. The base of the cabinet must be 300 – 1500
mm above the floor and adequate access shall be provided for testing. A discharge pipe must be connected to the
tundish and taken to a gully. Where the
discharge is to be taken into a waste pipe, a waterless trap shall be
used. The assembly must be commissioned
prior to use in accordance with the Water Regulations.
BA / RPZ – Reduced
Pressure Zone Valve
Where
indicated on the drawing, a Reduced Pressure Zone assembly shall be installed
as manufactured and commissioned by Arrow Valves Ltd - Tel 01442 823123. The installation shall comply with WRAS IGN
9-03-02 as available on the manufacturer’s web site www.arrowvalves.co.uk. The strainer1
shall be contained in a serviceable spherical valve and a non-return valve
shall be provided upstream of the RPZ valve to minimise discharge. The base of the valve must be 300 – 1500 mm
above the floor and adequate access shall be provided for testing with a
minimum 150 mm clearance above the valve.
The assembly shall be installed in a tamperproof environment such as a
plant room or be located in a cabinet.
A discharge pipe must be connected to the tundish and taken to a
gully. Where the discharge is to be
taken into a waste pipe, a waterless trap shall be used. The assembly must be commissioned prior to
use in accordance with the Water Regulations.
BTABV – Break Tank & Booster Set
Where indicated on the
drawing, a Break Tank Assembly with a Type AB air gap shall be installed as
manufactured by Arrow Valves Ltd - Tel 01442 823123 www.arrowvalves.co.uk. The unit
shall have an 18 litre cistern, with a lid, screened weirs and overflow
according to Water Regulations G16.13.
The pump shall be centrifugal with stainless steel impellors and housing
with an input power of 700
W and 3.3 Bar closed valve head1
and be controlled by a pressure switch connected to a 20 litre pressure
vessel. The cistern level shall be
controlled automatically by a servo solenoid valve operated via stainless steel
conductive level probes and controller.
The unit shall be floor mounted on a steel base plate and acoustically
attenuated with anti-vibration feet and a stainless steel braided flexible hose
from the pump.
BTP – Vandal
Resistant Hose Union Tap
Where indicated on the
drawing, a heavy pattern Hose Union Tap with integral wall plate and copper
tube shall be installed as manufactured by Arrow Valves Ltd - Tel 01442 823123 www.arrowvalves.co.uk. The tap shall
be of the Ferrule Guard and Key operation.
The plate shall be robustly attached to the wall. A separate Double Check Valve Assembly (Type
ED) shall be fitted inside the thermal envelope of the building, which is
suitable for fluid category 3 protection.
The
required level of backflow protection shall be determined by the local water
supplier.
ED132 – Double Check Valve
Every
Double Check Valve assembly shall be the low head loss type as manufactured and
distributed by Arrow Valves Ltd - Tel 01442 823123 www.arrowvalves.co.uk. The pressure drop across the assembly at 3
m/s pipe velocity shall be less than 1.3 m.
The body shall be DZR brass and include flat-faced union connections.
ED316 – Double Check Valve
Every
15 mm Double Check Valve assembly shall be the low head loss type as
manufactured and distributed by Arrow Valves Ltd - Tel 01442 823123 www.arrowvalves.co.uk. The pressure drop across the assembly at 3
m/s pipe velocity shall be less than 1.3 m.
The body shall be 316 stainless steel and Mapress press-fit union
connections or plastic with flat-faces shall be used.
ED440 – Double Check
Valve
Every
Double Check Valve assembly shall be the low head loss type as manufactured and
distributed by Arrow Valves Ltd - Tel 01442 823123 www.arrowvalves.co.uk. The pressure drop across the assembly at 1.5
m/s pipe velocity shall be less than 3.5 m.
The body and compression connections shall be DZR brass.
FB – Filterball
Where indicated on the
drawing, an isolating ball valve with integral strainer shall be installed as
distributed by Arrow Valves Ltd - Tel 01442 823123 www.arrowvalves.co.uk. The strainer
shall be stainless steel with a 700 micron1 mesh.
The body shall feature a side port, which allows the strainer to be
removed whilst isolating both valve ports.
The connections shall be compression to BS684-2.
PRV533 – Pressure
Reducing Valve
Where
indicated on the drawing, a Pressure Reducing Valve shall be fitted as
distributed by Arrow Valves Ltd - Tel 01442 823123 www.arrowvalves.co.uk. The PRV shall be direct acting and have an
adjustable outlet pressure ranging from 1 – 6 Bar and have a maximum supply
pressure of 16 Bar. The design shall be
of the removable cartridge type with integral 800 micron strainer. A pressure gauge shall be provided to
indicate the downstream pressure. The
PRV shall feature servicing valves to enable strainer to be cleaned.
PRV536 – Pressure
Reducing Valve
Where
indicated on the drawing, a Pressure Reducing Valve shall be fitted as
distributed by Arrow Valves Ltd - Tel 01442 823123 www.arrowvalves.co.uk. The PRV shall be direct acting and have an
adjustable outlet pressure ranging from 0.5 – 6 Bar and have a maximum supply
pressure of 25 Bar. The pressure drop
from a nominal 4 Bar shall be less than 0.8 Bar @ 2 m/s pipe velocity. The design shall be of the removable
cartridge type with integral 500 micron strainer. A pressure gauge shall be provided to indicate the downstream
pressure. The body shall be DZR brass
with union connections suitable for copper tube. The PRV shall feature full-bore DZR servicing valves to enable
strainer to be cleaned.
PRV1300 – Pressure
Reducing Valve
Where
indicated on the drawing, a Pressure Reducing Valve shall be fitted as
distributed by Arrow Valves Ltd - Tel 01442 823123 www.arrowvalves.co.uk. The PRV shall be direct acting and have an
adjustable outlet pressure ranging from 2.0 – 6 Bar1 and have a maximum supply
pressure of 25 Bar. The pressure drop
from a nominal 4 Bar shall be less than 0.7 Bar @ 2 m/s pipe velocity. The valve shall have an integral 1000 micron
strainer. A pressure gauge shall be
provided to indicate the downstream pressure.
The body shall be gunmetal with union connections suitable for copper
tube. The PRV shall feature full-bore
DZR servicing valves to enable strainer to be cleaned.
SPBA – Standpipe
Assembly
Every
external hose union tap shall be located in a tamperproof housing; comprising
of a galvanising steel body, with a dark green epoxy coating as manufactured
and distributed by Arrow Valves Ltd - Tel 01442 823123 www.arrowvalves.co.uk. The unit shall be suitability of fluid
category 4 protection and feature an RPZ valve (BA device). When mounted in soft ground a galvanised
pile shall be used with stainless steel fasteners. No below ground connections shall be made and a 2-pipe Tee
Assembly installed in the lower part of the standpipe where the pipe is to
continue. The tap outlet shall have a barbed connector
with o-ring seal1. A
padlock shall be provided and the supply pipe insulated. Note - The required level of backflow
protection shall be determined by the local water supplier.
SPED – Standpipe
Assembly
Every
external hose union tap shall be located in a tamperproof housing; comprising
of a galvanising steel body, with a dark green epoxy coating as manufactured
and distributed by Arrow Valves Ltd - Tel 01442 823123 www.arrowvalves.co.uk. The unit shall be suitable for fluid
category 3 protection and feature a Double Check Valve Assembly and full-bore
spherical servicing valve. When mounted
in soft ground a galvanised pile shall be used with stainless steel
fasteners. No below ground connections
shall be made and a 2-pipe Tee Assembly installed in the lower part of the
standpipe where the pipe is to continue.
The tap outlet shall
have a barbed connector with o-ring seal1. A padlock2 shall be provided and the supply pipe
insulated. Note - The Standpipe is to
be used for domestic purposes. The
required level of backflow protection shall be determined by the local water
supplier.
TMV5212 – Thermostatic Mixing Valve
Every
hot tap on a hand wash basin, bath and shower shall be supplied by a
thermostatic mixing valve meeting the requirements of NHS model Engineering
Specification DO8 (low and High pressure) as distributed by Arrow Valves Ltd -
Tel 01442 823123 www.arrowvalves.co.uk. The TMV shall feature servicing valves with
a removable strainer and a single check valve.
Where the supply pressures are unbalanced, the AFL service valves shall
also include a flow limiting cartridge that limits the flow in accordance with
the manufacturer’s data. The
installation and commissioning shall be in accordance with the TMV 3 scheme, as
available on the manufacturer’s web site.
WMZ – Water Meter
Every
secondary water meter shall be the low head loss multi-jet turbine type as
distributed by Arrow Valves Ltd - Tel 01442 823123 www.arrowvalves.co.uk. The meter shall have a brass body and be
epoxy coated. The meter shall be class
B and be suitable for temperatures up to 30o C. Full bore spherical servicing valves with
flat-faced union connections shall be installed either side of the meter. The serial number shall be engraved into the
housing and be visible when reading the dial.
