The Toy Project

Arrow Valves are committed supporters of The Toy Project, becoming the first to donate to the charity in 2013 and continuing to do so. The Toy Project support families and the wider community recycling unwanted toys for vulnerable children, including those bereaved of a parent – helping them cope with their grief through play. Every year in the UK over 20,000 children under the age of 18 experience the death of a parent – that is around 60 children and young people bereaved of a mother or father every day. This is a subject close to our Arrow hearts.

The Toy Project recycle unwanted toys for schools and nurseries, hospitals and hospices, refuge centres and children in vulnerable families and communities.

In place of Christmas cards, we donate annually to The Toy Project. We have also raised money through a sponsored 20 mile walk to mark our 20 years in business and a silent auction at our party to celebrate the same – entitled ‘Nothing is Impossiball’. Arrow Valves raised £3,777 and were delighted to meet representatives from The Toy Project for the first time who were attendance on the night.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium

Clearwater Marine Aquarium believe in preserving our marine life and environment while inspiring the human spirit through leadership in education, research, rescue, rehabilitation, and release. Winter, the inspiration behind the movie Dolphin Tale, lost her tail after being entangled in crabbing line, cutting off the circulation to her tail fluke. She overcame adversity with her ability to adapt to swimming without a tail in a ‘side-to-side’ motion. The provision of a prosthetic tail enabled Winter to adopt a normal ‘up-and-down’ swimming motion during exercise sessions.

Our Managing Director, Laura, has a passion for marine biology and no strangers to adversity themselves Arrow Valves related to Winter, her journey and the vision of the aquarium ‘inspiring the human spirit through leadership in education’. So, when we began researching organisations with whom to donate a share of our profit, Winter won the vote…and our hearts.

In December 2018, Laura took a trip to the aquarium to meet Winter and friends. It was an emotional journey having been inspired by Winter in overcoming our own challenges.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a working animal hospital and recently underwent expansion, tripling their dolphin habitat space and doubling care facilities for rescued marine life. To mark 20 years in business Arrow Valves purchased a paver to show our support and help build Winter’s Dream.
